Frequently Asked
Questions
Do you offer a trial lesson?
Music is above all a human encounter. I recommend booking a discovery session (paid) to ensure my pedagogy and your sensibility (or your child's) are well matched before committing.
Are there exams to take?
Exams are never mandatory. They are only proposed when I feel they offer genuine motivation. At Les Sonatines, musical fulfilment and quality of playing come before certificates.
How is the learning of a piece validated?
The completion of a piece can be marked by a recording. While strongly recommended to track progress, this step remains optional — the goal is to celebrate artistic autonomy without pressure.
What happens in case of injury (e.g. broken wrist)?
No panic! It's an opportunity to discover music differently. I have resources to work with the uninjured hand, or to focus on music theory, listening and musical culture.
Do I need a piano at home?
Yes, regular practice is essential for any progress. Having an instrument at home is necessary. A digital keyboard (minimum 5 octaves / 61 keys) is the minimum to start if you prefer to wait before investing in a piano.
How do I choose my piano?
I am happy to guide you through this process. For a second-hand purchase, I recommend the expertise of Dennis (Attune Piano) to verify the instrument's condition before any transaction.
Should the piano be tuned regularly?
Absolutely! In Singapore, humidity requires tuning approximately twice a year and a piano heater. I highly recommend Dennis (Attune Piano Singapore): attunepianospore.com | 9729 0760.
What are the lesson fees?
The fee structure is fixed and organised by lesson duration (45, 60 or 90 minutes). For full details, contact me directly via WhatsApp or the Contact page.
What is the cancellation policy?
Any lesson cancelled less than 48 hours in advance is still due. For absences notified before this deadline, we will find a make-up slot according to studio availability.
How are lessons organised during school holidays?
The studio generally follows the International French School (IFS) calendar. I offer à-la-carte lessons or themed sessions during the holidays for those wishing to deepen their practice.
Do lessons continue if we move abroad?
Yes! If you leave Singapore, we can continue our work together via online lessons with adapted digital tools, ensuring complete pedagogical continuity.
